Benny Snell Wastes No Time Becoming Pittsburgh’s Favorite Player

With the 122nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Benny Snell, running back out of Kentucky.

A powerful, confident running back with a chip on his shoulder is the perfect complement for James Conner. But is he the perfect complement for Steelers fans? Ever since Le’Veon Bell decided that he was the most important person in the NFL, there has been a vacancy in the hearts of Pittsburgh fans and a vacancy at #26 in black and yellow.

So how do you become an instant fan favorite before you ever set foot on the field? The same way you make friends. Find a common enemy and hate them together. Take a look at the shot he takes at Pittsburgh public enemy number 1 Le’Veon Bell.

Expect a large influx of Kentucky fans especially if Snell gets significant playing time. Not only do the Steelers have Snell, they also have former Kentucky stand out Bud Dupree. Two of the most beloved Wildcat football players of all time. If they somehow get Randall Cobb, they might just get every fan in the state.

ACC Tournament Second Round Evening Game Predictions

Notre Dame vs. Louisville

When: 7:00 p.m. ET ESPN 2

Spread: Louisville -7.5

Over/Under: 135

This will be the second meeting of the year for these two teams and the last time they met at Louisville, the Cards won handedly 75-61. In that game Louisville shot 68% and completely out rebounded the Irish. The difference in this game will be if Notre Dame can limit Louisville at the free throw line and the amount of shots made. They will have to stop Jordan Nwora from taking over as well. I don’t think that they will be able to do that since they don’t have much of a defense. Louisville’s defense will really limit the amount of made shots by Notre Dame which will make things an uphill battle for them. The only real shot Notre Dame has is if they can force Louisville to turn the ball over, and when they have the ball they need make their shots. That’s not super realistic though, seeing as Notre Dame is not as strong as they had been in the past.

That being said, this game won’t even be close. Louisville is just the better team, and although they have lost a lot of games in the past month and a half, I think they are a better team because of it. They have been playing good basketball but just can’t find ways to close out games, and against a weak Notre Dame team, I don’t think that will be an issue.

Prediction: Louisville 76 – 64 Notre Dame

Pittsburgh vs. Syracuse

When: 9:00 p.m. ET ESPN 2

Spread: Syracuse -7.5

Over/Under: 131.5

Pittsburgh had an really rough stretch in the end of the year. They lost 13 in a row. In that stretch they lost both of their games to Syracuse with scores of 74-63, and 65-56. On the other side, Syracuse had their fair share of quality wins this season. They beat both Duke and Louisville, but they didn’t have anything else that special this season. What Syracuse is going to do is probably block Pitt a lot. Syracuse is one of the best shot blocking teams in the country, and probably can do some damage against Pitt who gets their shot blocked almost more than any other team in the country. Syracuse also does a great job of stealing the ball. This is a suffocating team, but their offense isn’t really anything to write home about. They are a terrible three point shooting team and are not that good down low either.

Pitt’s best shot is causing Syracuse to take bad shots, and they probably will. They are a competent team. However, they are also one of the youngest teams in college basketball. I don’t think Pitt can get this one done; however, they will be able to keep it close. It will be a tough ACC battle in tournament time that will ultimately result in a Syracuse victory.

Prediction: Syracuse 68 – 63 Pittsburgh

The Steelers Out Petty Antonio Brown

Just like Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown is one of the best receivers in the NFL… and also one of the pettiest. In Brown’s 9 year career, the Steelers have reaped the rewards of his talents, but have also had plenty of time to study and learn from his advanced petty ways.

KNBR 680

In January, Antonio Brown requested a trade from the Steelers. He even skipped the last game of the season. Brown went on rant after rant about respect while concurrently disrespecting everyone in Pittsburgh. In one of his tirades, he said that Ben Roethlisberger has an owner mentality and it is his way or the highway.

His scorched earth tactic of starting a feud with his quarterback, coach, team owner and everyone else is surely going to get him what he wants: Any team, but Pittsburgh. Last night, he almost got his wish.

Yesterday, the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers nearly closed a deal for Antonio Brown. The trade was halted when Brown intervened and said he did not want to play there. Already making sure he would have a problem in a new organization. The Bills pulled out before news outlets could even report on it.

The Steelers just out petty-ed the pettiest man in the NFL. Don’t like it here? How about a worse organization with a worse quarterback and no chance at the Super Bowl. In all seriousness, I want Brown and Bell to get all the guaranteed money they deserve and be in place they are happy and not starting drama. The NFL is better place with them in it.

Every Team in the AFC North Is Hot Garbage… Except One

The AFC North is like a game of Sims gone wrong. For years, these teams have been doing everything they can to keep everyone happy when it just isn’t feasible long term. Now, the whole conference is one large dumpster fire. But one team is going to rise from the ashes and their takeover begins this season.

Let’s start in the Steel City of Pittsburgh. Jet fuel may not be able to melt steel beams, but petty drama sure can. The Steelers are falling apart. There is virtually no scenario where Le’Veon Bell plays for Pittsburgh ever again. They do get the consolation prize of James Conner, but he is no Le’Veon. They will also lose Antonio Brown. Arguably the best receiver in the NFL has already said goodbye to Pittsburgh despite the fact he is still on the roster. Star players are begging to get out of that city. Big Ben, who is a coward and should unblock me on Twitter, is one big hit away from being forced into retirement. Not a bright future.

The Ravens may have finished last season with 10 wins, but if that playoff game versus the Chargers was indicator of anything, I would start to worry. The Ravens have put all of their eggs in one basket with Lamar Jackson. He has proven time and time again that he cannot throw to save his life while the one person that could somewhat pass just got traded to the Broncos. One top of the future quarterback problem, John Harbaugh has had a tough time beating their rivals as of late. Must run in the family.

If you remember the old phrase “Browns gonna Browns”, you should learn the new one: “Bengals gonna Bengals”. They may have finally stopped rewarding Marvin Lewis for his mediocrity, but don’t think for a second that the Bengals are all of a sudden going to be anything better than 5-11. As long as the Ginga Ninja is tossing around the pigskin and Vontaze Burfict is doing everything he can to keep the other team’s offense on the field, don’t get your hopes up.

I never thought I would say this, but the Browns are the saving grace of this conference and will win the division next season. Despite what Colin Cowherd tells you, Baker Mayfield is legit. He won’t win the MVP next season, but expect to hear his name in contention. The Browns have also made some huge moves in the past year and so far this offseason. Cleveland picked up Kareem Hunt (I am not going to make Browns’ Kicker jokes). A Hunt and Chubb backfield is going to be insane. It also sounds like a really bad buddy cop duo. Expect last year’s 7 wins to jump to 10, but do not expect anyone to stop asking if Alabama can beat them.

Where Will Antonio Brown Be Traded?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been at the forefront of all of the NFL controversy all season. Surprisingly, this time, it has nothing to do with Le’veon Bell; it is their other superstar, Antonio Brown. He has been skipping recent team meetings and practices and when he does show up, he gets into it with his teammates. One altercation in particular was with QB Ben Roethlisberger where he supposedly yelled and threw a ball at him. But, to be fair, Ben throws balls at him ALL the time. Most recently, Brown did an Instagram Live video with James Harrison (Mike Tomlin’s biggest critic) where he was very critical of his head coach. Some believe it is just a matter of time before he is traded, but where we he go?

San Francisco 49ers
Antonio Brown is doing everything he can to stir up this rumor. It all started with a tweet from George Kittle. It simply asked “sup?” Seemingly harmless and obviously a joke. This led to AB replying with an excited emoji and following the 49ers and many of their players. On top of that, Brown liked a picture of himself on Instagram with a 49ers jersey.

Antonio Brown has also unfollowed the Steelers.

Cleveland Browns
Jarvis Landry, following George Kittle’s lead, has also reached out to AB on Twitter. He asked if Brown and Bell would want to win a title sometime soon. This seems kind of innocent and just piling on to a running joke, but Brown has followed some Cleveland Browns fan accounts in recent days.

Of course this is all speculation and these are pretty petty reasons to believe he will be traded, but Brown is part of the pettiest organization on Earth. And he is already petty himself. The most likely destination for Antonio Brown is to stay right where he already is in Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin and Big Ben say that no altercation happened nor has AB asked for a trade. Financially, letting Brown go would be ridiculous. He is set to make $22.2 million next year. If they let him go, they still have to pay him $21.2 million. A savings of $1.1 million is not enough to justify letting such an amazing player go.

I think it is more likely they get rid of Tomlin before they get rid of Brown… which may happen.

Big Ben: Certified Soft

Ben Roethlisberger is SOFT and not in a good way like us here at Soft 7 Sports. I mean soft as in Big Ben is a baby back bitch. I’m not talking about how he leaves every game in a walking boot. And I’m not talking about how no loss can ever be his fault. I’m talking about how saying anything to him on Twitter will get you blocked almost immediately. If you want of satisfaction of being blocked by a real, verified professional athlete, Big Ben is your guy.

I know he has an assistant run his official Twitter account, but he/she has to be getting orders from somewhere. Now, if you follow me on Twitter, and I highly recommend you do (@Soft7Wic), you know that I was recently blocked by Ben Roethlisberger. I’m not upset about it at all, this was actually my intention. Every sports blogger gets blocked by #7. It is a rite of passage that results in the official title of lowercase “b” blogger. Big Ben is literally better protected from sports writers than he is from defensive lineman who are trying to hurt him. Wanna see how easy it is?

All it took was 4 tweets:

Screen Shot 2018-11-08 at 6.06.54 PM

I wanted to see if I would get blocked for literally anything. I know this wasn’t my best work; it wasn’t supposed to be. Just wanted to gauge how much I could get away with.

Screen Shot 2018-11-08 at 6.07.57 PM

He threw like 3 or 4 picks that game at Cleveland.

Screen Shot 2018-11-08 at 6.06.39 PM

Really thought this one would do the trick. I guess not though. For the next one, I knew I would have to go for the jugular. I was losing hope and knew I would need something absolutely diabolical if I was going gain lowercase “b” blogger status. Here was my last attempt:

Screen Shot 2018-11-08 at 6.04.19 PM

I was blocked THAT DAY. That’s literally all it took. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Not only did I get blocked for this, a buddy of mine got blocked too just for liking the tweet. To test if this was really the breaking point, Juice (@soft7Juice) tweeted the same thing to him and was also blocked in just one tweet. I cannot imagine having that fragile of an ego while running somebody else’s twitter account. I love that this is a real thing that happens. I have but one request for all the Soft 7’s out there reading this: get blocked by Big Ben and send me screenshots on Twitter of what you said to make it happen. I’m counting on you guys.
