Kyler Murray May Not Be Going #1 Overall to the Cardinals, According to ESPN’s Draft Website

With today marking only 9 days until the NFL Draft, it also marks the 1,000th day of speculation of whether or not Kyler Murray will go number 1 overall. What seemed like a sure thing after Josh Rosen took all Cardinals-related photos off of his Instagram, may not be so certain after all. Kliff Kingsbury has been very high on Murray since taking over as head coach, but the Cardinals’ front office may be having a change of heart.

According to ESPN’s draft site, Arizona has already selected Quinnen Williams.

ESPN has since taken this off of the their site, but it makes you wonder. Does ESPN know something they aren’t telling us? OR was this just an honest mistake?’s Daniel Jeremiah has reported that Arizona’s front office has changing their mind recently. What started as a 90% certainty that they would take Murray has since been reduced to just 60. Normally, teams don’t give up on a quarterback taken in the first round after their rookie season, but when have we ever known the Cardinals to do anything normal?

If I were a Cardinals fan, I would not at all be upset at all about taking Quinnen Williams with the first pick. I would be upset, however, about then having Brett Hundley as the next best option at QB if their relationship with Josh Rosen cannot be patched up.

Kyler Murray Deciding Between Football and Baseball

Oklahoma Quarterback and Heisman hopeful, Kyler Murray, will be faced with the decision of a lifetime at the end of this season. Will he continue playing football and possibly enter the 2019 NFL Draft OR will he go a completely different route and play professional baseball?

For those of you who don’t know, Kyler Murray is in a similar situation to what Russell Wilson experienced at the end of his college career. Not only is Murray an incredible football player, he is also a top prospect in baseball. In fact, he was selected 9th overall by the Oakland Athletics earlier this year.

Murray’s football career has been great, especially this season. At Oklahoma, he has thrown for 4,053 yards and 40 TD’s this season (5,098 and 48 total). These stats put him firmly in the Heisman race and some analysts are even saying that he is the favorite to win. With those kind of stats, coming from the same system as Baker Mayfield and leading his Sooners to the College Football Playoff should make his a pretty high draft pick, right? Actually, no. Despite being one of the best dual-threat Quarterbacks in college right now, Murray is only 5’10”. Short Quarterbacks, with the obvious exception of GOAT of all time Drew Brees, typically don’t last too long in the NFL.

While Murray thinks that he can overcome this, he knows that baseball is the far more viable option. When asked about his future in baseball, Murray said, “as of now, that’s the plan.” Being the ninth overall pick came with its perks. He agreed to a deal with the A’s that included a $4.66 million signing bonus. To me, this is the best plan. Playing baseball over football for just about anyone means a lot more money, a longer career, and significantly lower risk of injury. Can’t beat that. But, at the end of the day, it comes down to what you love. Obviously, Kyler Murray still loves football. That’s why he played this season and why he is finishing the season after his mind has been made.

Unlike his teammates and opponents in the College Football Playoff, he already has his plan and money locked down. But don’t think for a second that that is going to stop him from trying to score 100 on Alabama on December 29th.

CFP Rankings 11/26/18

Week 13 of College Football brought a major shake up to the top 10. Don’t worry, I am sure the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will waste no time letting their biases get the best of them and getting the whole thing wrong. Rest assured, ya boy is here to set the record straight.

  1. Alabama (12-0)- Duh.
  2. Notre Dame (12-0)- The Irish gave us a scare this past weekend versus USC. Going into halftime down 3 placed Notre Dame’s ass firmly in the jackpot. Just like the Bible, another Book helped lead them to victory. Great comeback to finish the season undefeated.
  3. Clemson (12-0)- Wow! The Tigers put up 56 points against an unranked, barely bowl-eligible team! Unreal. How do they do it? Clemson’s schedule is such a joke this year. Keep in mind they gave up 510 yards and 5 touchdowns to Jake Bentley. A guy who is such a cheap knockoff of what a quarterback is supposed to be, I call him Jake Kia.
  4. UCF (11-0)- Gotta let them in. Now is your chance, CFP Selection Committee. Make an example out of them! They won’t do it though. Knowing the committee, they will use McKenzie Milton’s knee explosion injury as a reason not to put them in the top 4. Ya know, the same reason they kept out Ohio State when they were on their third stringer in 2015.
  5. Georgia (11-1)- Not too impressive of a win against Georgia Tech, but they got the job done. Good win.
  6. Ohio State (11-1)- Made a hell of a case for themselves this past weekend. The Buckeyes put an end to Michigan’s “Revenge Tour” by hanging a 60 burger on them. They won 62-39. What a performance by Dwayne Haskins too. 396 yards and 6 touchdowns against Michigan should put him on anyone’s Heisman Watch. I’d love to see him throw for 800 and 8 on Clemson.
  7. Oklahoma (11-1)- Another week, another game the Sooners refuse to play defense. They gave up 56 points to West Virginia and still won. Luckily for them, they are one of the worst teams to get into a shootout with.
  8. Michigan (10-2)- Brutal loss to Ohio State. This was an absolute killer to their season and they will need all of the help to get into the playoff now. There is still hope, Wolverine fans. Just kidding, your dreams are dead.
  9. Washington State (10-2)- Their loss last Friday to Washington does not seem so bad in comparison to others. Either way, my dreams of a Mike Leach championship are over. As are Mike Leach’s.
  10. Texas (9-3)- Say what you will, but they are the best 3-loss team. A good season with good wins will get you some good rewards. You can catch the Longhorns next at the Big 12 Championship. And guess what? They are playing a team they already beat in the Oklahoma Sooners.
