Just your typically bottoming out stuff. The family business is crumbling, not even UCLA will talk to LaMelo and he has no control over any of it. So, what would any teenager do to rebel against their authority figures? That’s right, get a tattoo.
Not just any tattoo, though. To really get some attention, he needed something big, expensive and noticeable. And that, it was.
Christ on a bike, this is the most gaudy and ridiculous thing that he Ball family has ever done. Forget the $500 ankle-ruining shoes, Lavar running his mouth about anything and everything and the demise of BBB. Things have officially gone too far. But being completely honest, this shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Lavar almost lost his mind when LaMelo got a “fear God” tattoo on his back. So, you have to wonder how he feels about this one. My guess is that Lavar saw this as a brilliant opportunity to keep the Ball name in the media’s mouth and will react accordingly. Way to stay relevant, Lavar.
Now that the Big Baller Brand website has gone dark amid company shut down rumors, LaVar Ball is looking for anything to get the media’s attention away from his failing business. And the media genius himself has done just that.
In a recent interview with TMZ, LaVar Ball said that his son, LiAngelo, would be taken first overall in this year’s draft if he was available. Yes, before Zion Williamson. Lavar says, “He ain’t no big baller… He’s a Williamson. Williamsons ain’t stronger than Ballers.” He even said that Zion “can’t hold a candle” to LiAngelo. WATCH:
This would definitely be a hot take to anyone else, but for LaVar Ball, this one is on the lazier side. He seems to be following the Big Baller Brand steps to get the media to overreact: Step 1: Figure out who the best basketball players are Step 2: Pick one Step 3: Call TMZ Step 4: Say you or your son is better than that basketball player.
Come on, LaVar, you’re getting too predictable. Where is the fire? Where are the empty promises and blind guarantees?
Ball also said in the interview that LiAngelo will be in the Summer League this year and guaranteed that he would have an NBA contract. On top of that, he goes on to say that LiAngelo is the biggest and strongest 2 guard in the NBA.
There it is. I knew he had it in him. That’s the LaVar we all know and love. So, LiAngelo is not available for the draft, but will make a Summer League roster and be so impressive that he ends up receiving a contract. I understand believing in your kids and having confidence in their abilities, but at what point does it just become a publicity stunt?
Genius Lavar Ball is at it again. Big Baller Brand is hosting the Big Baller Beatdown high school showcase this weekend in Benton, Kentucky. Lavar’s only son who is good at basketball, LaMelo, and his Spire Institute squad will be featured in two of the eleven games.
The financial wizard himself is not going to host a basketball showcase weekend and not make money on it. Not only is he charging $15-25 for admission, he is also charging $3,500 to anyone who wants to film Spire Institute’s games while already making $5,000 a game from FloSports. All other games will be free to record.
Here is how much of a genius Lavar Ball is: he is hosting a high school basketball showcase in NOWHERE, Kentucky. People will have to drive several hours to get there (there are no airports nearby). He is charging $25 admission and an extra $3,500 to get a 3 second clip of his son bricking a half court shot. AND PEOPLE ARE GOING TO COME.
I even thought about it until I saw that it was a 4 and half hour drive. Lavar Ball can put his name on anything in any location and it would become a huge event.
Hell, he could put his name on Fyre Festival 2 and people would go.
