Crown Jewel Preview

Ladies and Gentlemen, here we are again with WWE PPV event.  Credit to Vince for not charging more for the monthly subscription, well, at least not yet.  WWE had Evolution, now Crown Jewel, then Survivor Series all very close to one another, which is just unheard of.  So thank you to Vince and the WWE Superstars for putting on these shows.

To change tones, fuck you, Vince.  This PPV should not be happening and he’s just doing it to get an ungodly amount of money, so nevermind props to you.  The matches were a lot better, but since Daniel Bryan, John Cena, and Roman Reigns can not or will not partake, let’s preview the subpar event.

World Cup Tournament (Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Dolph Ziggler, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, and the Miz)

This is an interesting concept.  Saudi wanted this to be called the World Cup due to the fact that Qatar got the actual FIFA World Cup.  It is a three round tournament, starting with Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy vs the Miz, Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley, and Dolph Ziggler vs Kurt Angle.  To me, you have two long time rivalries that could match up in the second round.  Seth vs Dolph and Randy vs Jeff, but I don’t think that will happen.  People are growing tired of the same old shit time and time again, but Vince may resort back to it.  I see Rollins vs Angle and Mysterio vs The Miz.  I would like to see the Miz losing to Rollins in the final.  The Miz vs Seth Rollins would be such an amazing match and could reignite their feud they had for the IC Title.  But what I feel like will happen is Angle vs Mysterio, with Mysterio winning it because why else would they bring him out of retirement? Also, this is dumb as hell.  “World Cup” but the entire roster is American except Mysterio, should just call it the North American Cup that takes place in Saudi Arabia, but maybe that title is too long.

Prediction: Mysterio wins

WWE Universal Championship: Braun Strowman vs Brock Lesnar

This match is for Roman’s vacant title as he starts the battle of his life, beating Leukemia again.  WWE will probably run a promo thanking Roman, which they should.  This match is kinda silly honestly.  The last time they fought, Brock gave Braun an F-5 and won, which should happen again.  But absolutely no way Brock wins this match given the fact that he’s moving back to UFC.  It’ll be a quick, brutal match just like Roman vs Brock the last time they were in Saudi.  Braun will win and I expect McIntyre to come out and start his feud with Braun for the Championship afterwards.

Prediction: Braun wins

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs Samoa Joe

Stop me if you have heard this before, this is so fucking dumb.  I do not want to see this same old shit again.  Daniel Bryan and AJ had an amazing match Tuesday on Smackdown and then Joe cowardly, like always, attacked AJ which set up this match.  It’s silly, it’s dumb, I will not watch it.

Prediction: AJ retains

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The New Day vs The Bar (c)

It shocked me when the New Day lost their titles on Smackdown 1000, but it makes sense.  Saudi had some requests for Vince and I guess they wanted the Big Show to come, because it would not make sense otherwise to have him in The Bar’s corner.  The New Day always puts out an amazing product and they will again here.  They are the most fun tag team to watch, but they had the title for awhile, so they won’t get it back for awhile.  It would be cooler if they did a 3 person tag team event, but they aren’t so it’ll be mediocre at best.

Prediction: The Bar retains

The Brothers of Destruction vs DX

Again with the Saudi requests for Vince, so here we are.  A group of men in their 50s will take the ring to settle their feud after the events that occurred at SuperShow Down in Australia.  Undertaker and Mayor Glenn Jacobs (Kane) will take the ring against Shawn Michaels and Triple H.  This will be the main event and the entrances alone will probably take 20 minutes.  The match will dwell on and on just like in Australia, because they are all 50 it will not be good, just nostalgic.

Prediction: Kane and Undertaker win

Prediction: This PPV will suck

WWE Evolution Recap and Other Rumors

Last night the women of WWE put on a show. To be honest, it was so much better than I expected. I said in my preview that I expected some matches to just be boring and I wouldn’t have an interest in them, but I was wrong. Having barely watched the Mae Young Classic, it was one of my favorite matches of the night and I’m excited for those two to make it to the main roster. Before I give my thoughts on the matches, I need to say that the lighting threw me off. I didn’t like how it was dark behind the ring, even though it was essentially NXT lighting. The first ever Women’s only PPV, should’ve been fully lit but it could have also been because of the crowd. It was a predictable card, i went 5/7. Let’s take a look at the matches.

Trish and Lita beat Mickie James and Fox
I called this match last second, due to Alexa being ruled out. This match was pretty meh. It had a ton of nostalgia with a Trish and Mickie showdown, but that was pretty much the only good thing. You could tell everyone in this match was old and hasn’t been a regular. There was a point where Fox needed to break up a pin, but was noticeably late. Like the ref even paused 2-3 seconds for her to show up before the 3 count. This match was cool only for nostalgia.
Grade: I predicted it right, C-

20-Woman Battle Royal
This match had everyone you could want. It had the IIconics play the Carmella role and we saw them thrown over first because they called the old women old, which apparently triggered them. We had Nia Jax have a stand off with both Tamina and Ember Moon, which was incredible. We had our dance break from Carmella and Ivory. Moon and Asuka had a cool NXT standoff, leading to Moon eliminating her. The match came down to Moon and Jax, who both were about to go over the rope until Zelina Vega thought she won and started celebrating, which led to Nia throwing her over the ropes and then eliminating Moon. Nia won, which she deserved but it was very stupid from a story standpoint. Fans will get behind Moon and she’ll get her title shot soon enough.
Grade: I predicted Moon, but was wrong B+

Toni Storm wins the Mae Young Classic
WWE fucked up three times during this PPV, and this is the first. This match was my match of the night. WWE does this thing where they hide matches throughout the main card and they intended to do so with this, but Storm and Shirai had other plans. The intensity in the match made it my favorite, especially since Shirai paid homage to Rey Mysterio Jr by hitting the 619 that nearly won the match. The match ended with Storm hitting her second Storm Zero of the evening, which secured the pinfall. Both fighters hugged it out after, mainly because they know they’ll be feuding on the main card in no time.
Grade: I predicted Storm, A-

Natayla, Bayley and Sasha defeat the Riot Squad
Honestly hated this whole set up, mainly because I do not like the Riot Squad. Only cool thing to see here was Natalya paying respect to her late father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart by hitting the Hart Attack.
Grade: I predicted this, C+

NXT Women’s Championship
To be honest, I didn’t watch this. Baszler won, which was predictable. WWE brought in MMA’s four horsewomen to secure the match.
Grade: I don’t know

Smackdown Women’s Championship
This is the second fuck up for WWE last night. The first ever Women’s Last Woman Standing match was insane and brutal as can be. The match was escalated quickly by Becky as she beat Flair with a Kendo stick. Flair took 90% of the bumps, which surprised me. Becky got smashed through a table twice, because it didn’t break the first time. Becky eventually won, which is where they fucked up. Flair literally took 90% of the bumps, maybe Becky is hurt but come on. Flair deserved this title and this match. Becky tapped at one point, which they do in every Last Man/Woman Standing match, which is dumb. Flair deserved this and no one will convince me otherwise.
Grade: I picked Flair, A

Raw Women’s Championship
This match was the final fuck up. The match, surprisingly, was really good. Nikki got her time to beat up Ronda, with help from Bri. Ronda eventually took out Bri, which allowed her to take out Nikki eventually with the arm-bar. This match should not have finished the event. Flair and Becky was better and so was the Mae Young Classic. I predicted Nikki to kinda be slow, which she was not. Credit 100% to her, because without her, this match would’ve stunk to high heaven. I am really beginning to hate Ronda and her title run. Nikki played it perfectly with the entitled storyline put on Ronda, because she is. Nikki was killer during this and I hope it means she sticks around a while, because she looked better than ever in the ring.
Grade: I predicted Ronda, B+ only because Nikki killed it

This PPV will lead to new opportunities for the women. It was a great show, I’ll give it a B overall, which ranks higher than most of the other PPV’s, especially SuperShow Down. Now, WWE moves onto it’s men’s only PPV in Saudi Arabia. Now, at Soft 7, we do not want to engage in politics in any nature, but I will say I am proud of John Cena and Daniel Bryan. I am proud of the people opposing this PPV. Vince is a money machine, which is a main reason why it is continuing. Ronda Rousey also defended it by saying it could lead to women competing there one day. My thoughts remain the same. This should not happen, Vince should move it.

Now, away from he political aspects, this PPV being so close to Evolution is so dumb. The Women just put all they had out there for the first ever Women’s only PPV and then there is a Men’s PPV right around the corner. I’ll have a Crown Jewel Preview out on Thursday.

WWE Evolution Preview

History is about to be made on October 28th in New York.  WWE is showing its first every all women’s pay-per-view.  Honestly, it is a long time coming.  The women in WWE hold their own weight and can easily make this one of the best PPV’s in recent history.  In fact, a women’s match was the best match at this year’s Wrestlemania.  I may not agree with where they have taken the division recently, but that Charlotte vs Asuka match was the best match I have seen this year.  The women in WWE have been around for a lot of the company’s firsts, such as the first ever Women’s Money in the Bank, won by Carmella.  They competed in the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble, with Asuka winning and facing the Queen.  And eventually, they’ll be a part of the first every Women’s Tag Team Titles.  This PPV is just a step for them.  The Women’s Revolution in WWE has only just begun.

Ronda Rousey(c) vs Nikki Bella

Look, I love the Bella twins.  They have done so much for the Women’s Revolution.  Nikki and Bri have embraced the “motherly figure” role of the revolution by being there every step of the way and supporting every decision made by Stephanie McMahon.  But, their time is up.  Again I love the Bella twins, I really do, but Bri has had 3 botches, one that could have killed her and one that knocked out Liv Morgan.  Nikki just looks so slow and it is just not fun to watch.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love that Nikki is going to be the main event.  It only makes sense. Like I said, they’re the faces in front of this revolution and they deserve it.  The Bella’s, through Natalya, cozied up to Ronda and eventually turned on her which set up this fight.  Nikki will use her deception and I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some twin magic and Bri helps Nikki, but ultimately Ronda will win.  The Bellas do not seem like they’re sticking around too long, so it only makes sense for them to ride off into the sunset after this. But, if they have long term plans, I hope Ronda gets smashed.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey retains

Becky Lynch(c) vs Charlotte Flair

I wrote earlier how much I hated this feud and boy do I feel dumb.  Becky Lynch should not have the title.  After the match against Asuka, Flair should have never lost it until the next ‘Mania. But damn, every fight they have is the best fight of the night anymore.  Smackdown 999, last night, they fought for 23 minutes before a count out ended the match, allowing Becky to retain.  The match was brutal. After the match was finished, they continued to fight and Flair tackled Becky into the screen which led to blood everywhere.  What I love about this feud is that it opened another door for the Women’s revolution, the first ever Women’s Last Man Standing Match.  WWE should really make it the Last Women Standing match, but whatever, it is still so fucking cool.  I’m excited for this match.  Becky will probably win, which will suck but it’ll be a hell of a match.  In most Last Man Standing Matches, the face wins. With Charlotte on the verge of her 8th title and it already being a historic night, I hope Flair gets her time to shine.

Prediction: Charlotte wins her 8th Title

Trish Stratus & Lita vs Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and Alicia Fox

The original match was supposed to be Alexa vs Trish and this really does not make much sense.  It’ll be very entertaining to see one of the best heels go against an all time favorite in Trish.  Doesn’t make much sense, but it’ll be enjoyable regardless.  Update: Alexa Bliss suffered an injury last weekend which will cause her to miss this event, but she will be ringside.

Prediction: My original prediction was Bliss and James, but with Bliss out I think Trish and Lita will win

Sasha Banks, Bayley, Natalya vs The Riot Squad

This match was planned very quickly and did not have much build to it all.  You have the lovable characters of Bayley and Sasha teaming up with Natalya and then sort of threw the Riot Squad in.  It’s a good way to get Bayley and Sasha on the card, but the match doesn’t make sense.

Prediction: Bayley, Sasha, and Natalya win

Kairi Sane (c) vs Shayna Baszler

This match is for the Women’s NXT Championship.  This match will be very interesting.  Baszler was shockingly defeated in Brooklyn after a strong, lengthy title run.  It won’t be a match I watch very closely, because I honestly have no clue who these people are, but it should be one of the best performances of the night due to Triple H loving the NXT division, so they always deliver.

Prediction: Baszler wins

IO Shirai vs Toni Storm

This match will be either the best or second best match of the evening.  It is the 2018 Mae Young Classic, the classic named after the late Mae Young who was a pioneer in the Women’s Wrestling industry.  These two women will both have bright futures in the WWE, no matter the outcome.  After surviving 30 other women, I believe Storm will win because she only reached the Semi’s last year and it is a redemption.

Prediction: Toni Storm

Women’s Battle Royal

This is going to be an interesting concept for this PPV.  There hasn’t been an announcement yet for how many women will compete, but we do know the likes of Asuka, Ember Moon, and Nia Jax will be competing.  I think it comes down to these three as well.  Asuka could gain her credibility back and get her first title from Rousey, which could set up a Rousey vs Flair Wrestlemania.  Nia Jax is a tank and is always a threat, but she had her title run and I don’t think she stands a chance.  Ember Moon will win this.  Moon hasn’t really seen the spotlight yet since joining the main roster, and this could be her chance.  Obviously she won’t win the title from Rousey, but it could make her popularity grow.

Prediction: Ember Moon wins the title opportunity.

This Pay-per-view may not have the best matches, but it has some damn good ones.  This PPV will lead to more and more freedom within the Women’s Revolution and I look forward to see what this brings.  Thank you, WWE.

Thank You Roman And Raw Recap

Last night on Raw was a whirlwind of emotions. First off, thank you, Roman Reigns. He announced that he has been battling Leukemia since he was 22 years old. Currently 33, Reigns announced that it has resurfaced, which caused him to give up the Universal Championship. Reigns had grown to be one of my favorite wrestlers. His dedication and strength are unmatched. In his speech, he became human again. His big push to get the Title was based on his ability to defend it, his ability to be on weekly and wear it proud. In his speech, he said “but that was a lie. My real name is Joe, and I’ve been living with leukemia for 11 years, and unfortunately, it’s back. And because the leukemia is back, I cannot fulfill my that role. I can’t be that fighting champion. And I’m going to have to relinquish the Universal Championship.” Roman continued to thank the WWE for giving him a chance after his last stint with Leukemia. He called the WWE his home and claimed that he will return to kick ass after he kicks Leukemia’s ass, once again. WWE released a video backstage of all the talent coming up to him and hugging him, including Braun Strowman, Paul Heyman, Jason Jordan, and many more. Braun included an Instagram post saying how much he admires and respects Roman. “One of my biggest competitors inside the ring, but behind the scenes he’s one of my best friends. “I’m heartbroken and obviously all of our staff at Soft 7 Sports are praying for you, Roman.

So, what happens with the Universal Title? We got a glimpse last night. WWE announced at Crown Jewel that Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman will face off for the vacant title. Presumably, Braun will win. I say that because it makes the most sense and Braun turned face last night. During the Tag Team Match between Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler vs Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, Braun came out and chased McIntyre leading to a Shield victory. We got the glimpse that Braun and Drew will feud for the Title, which I don’t hate, just wish it was Roman and Drew.

Another thing we saw last night was Dean finally turning on Seth. This is something that has been teased for a while, but last night, nobody saw it coming. After Roman’s heartfelt speech, Dean and Seth came out, Seth crying, to comfort Roman and they did their typical Shield fist bump, then after Dean and Seth won the Tag Team Titles, Dean hit Seth and then just abused him. This shocked everyone, because no one thought it’d happen on the night Roman had to step away, but Vince said fuck everyone, let’s do it. 2 things come from that: 1) We’ll presumably get a Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Title, which sucks because this feud should get the main title. 2) They still are the Tag Team Champions. What happens with that? Do they relinquish it or does Corbin make them fight?

And finally, from Barstool Sports, there is a report that Daniel Bryan and John Cena have both pulled out of the WWE Crown Jewel due to the situation that occurred last week. If that is true, I expect WWE to pull out completely due to Bryan being in a Title Match and Cena presumably winning the World Cup. This is an interesting situation developing and could put WWE’s multi-hundred-million-dollar deal with Saudi on hold.

Roman Reigns Deserves A Long Title Run

Roman Reigns is the hardest working man in WWE and gets zero respect due to Vince McMahon’s management. Roman, a valued member of the beloved Shield (a trio including Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins), finally knocked off Brock Lesnar in a Championship match at SummerSlam. He won his championship after a year-long struggle of the company complying with the worst champion of all time, Brock Lesnar.

Brock gained his title after beating Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33 and has held it ever since. He defended it 13 times. 13 times in a year in a half. Since Roman defeated Brock, he has defended it against Finn Balor right after Summerslam. And he defended it against Braun Strowman at Hell in a Cell. So that is twice in a month. If he holds it for a year in a half, that’s 36 times, triple the amount of Lesnar. Roman defeated Lesnar, but he also has defeated a plethora of other legends.

Roman defeated Triple H, to regain his title, in quite possibly one of the greatest Wrestlemania matches at Wrestlemania 32. Roman also feuded with the greatest wrestler of all time, John Cena at WWE No Mercy 2017. In what was an interesting feud, Cena claimed he couldn’t walk away and pursue the career he so desperately wants in Hollywood due to Reigns’ inability to cut a promo and hold a crowd. Reigns ultimately won Cena’s respect and Cena left the scene for the time being. But the best match he has ever fought was against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33.

The Undertaker is arguably the most adored, respected wrestler in history. You can’t find one person who hates him. Roman Reigns defeated the Undertaker, giving him his second ever loss at Wrestlemania and “retiring” him there in the ring. All these legends have one thing in common: they’ve lost to Roman Reigns. Roman also puts his body through so much, every single week. There isn’t a match in which he ends without blood on him. He got handcuffed, then got the shit beat out of him by Brock Lesnar, leaving millions of marks on his hand and blood everywhere. He slams opponents through structures and he gets slam through them as well. He gets abused week in and week out and gets booed for it, which I don’t understand. Now, Roman is about to face Braun and Brock in a Triple Threat Match in Saudi Arabia. If Roman does not win that, then I may be done with the WWE.

Roman Reigns is a champion, a champion that we deserve. He has done so much for the company and now it’s his time to collect his worth. He deserves a lengthy title run and the respect of everyone within the industry.

I will preview Evolution within the next few days.
