Morning Juice, Baseball Edition

Welcome to the first edition of my baseball gambling posts. Depending on the popularity, I plan on doing these 3/4 times a week but typically days where there are a ton of games. Like Morning Juice, I will have my team (the Reds) in every single one. During basketball season, I went 78-42-1 which is 64.4%. So let’s get this started. We’ll do 2 games today, 4 picks.

Atlanta Braves @ Cincinnati Reds (Series 1-1)

Well, if you know Tanner Roark you know the Reds lost last night. I was watching the game at work and in the end of the 4th, Roark came up to bat and he should have a been pitch hit right there. It was only 2-1 but innings 3 and 4 he left the bases loaded, barely escaping. One thing I love about the Reds is how passionate they play and it all starts with Dietrich. He is the heart and soul of this team and he needs to be playing every day @ David Bell. For the Braves, they seem to be struggling. They are currently 12-11 while the Reds are 9-14. Both of these teams can be explosive at times but then just quiet for days. The Braves have a tough division but if you read my breakdown, I said they’d start slow and finish atop of the division so no worries there. We have Castillo (2-1 1.47ERA) and Teheran (2-2 5.61ERA) on the bump tonight and it should be a pitching matchup. I think Castillo will provide the Reds the boost they need, so I’m taking the Reds 3-1. Take Cincinnati -1 and SLAM the under 9. With these pitchers, the score will not eclipse 7.

New York Yankees @ Anaheim Angels (Series 3-0)

This is a best of four series in Anaheim, but the Yankees are looking for a broom. After the Angels went up a quick 5-0 and spoiled CC from getting his 3000 strikeout, the Yankees stormed back late thanks to Voit and LeMahieu. One thing that scares me for the Yankees is how injured they are. They are currently on a six game win streak, but they are missing Judge, Stanton, Tulo, Didi, Andujar, Sevy, and more and just today, they added Clint Frazier to their DL (I refuse to call it IL) and Stanton is not improving. This team is a team that should win 120 games if they are healthy but they seem to be holding up. For the Angels, they suck. Not much has changed there. Trout is a freak but that is about it. Tonight, it’s Tanaka vs Cahill. I think Tanaka will give up his solo shot early, to Trout, them it will be smooth sailing. Yankees will get to Cahill and build a lead and I think they’ll barely keep it. Give me the Yankees 6-4 and the sweep. Take Yankees -1.5 and go ahead and take the over 8. It has hit every game so far.
