More news out of Lexington today as junior Jemarl Baker is transferring from the program. Honestly, this should come as no shock to anyone. Baker was hurt the entire 2017-2018 season and barely played last season. When he did, he was overshadowed by Tyler Herro and Baker really never found his stride. He only averaged 2.3 points per game and shot 32%.
Look, this sucks. Kentucky just seems to be losing everyone right now. But what I will say is this: Kentucky will be fine. With the addition of Sestina and hopefully Blackshear, Kentucky will be fine. This also gives an opening message to Matthew Hurt. Look, we are losing our shooters and hopefully we can add him, but if not, Maxey, Whitney, Allen, and Brooks will suffice.
I will say this on Jemarl, he was not a one and done. He was ranked from the 50-100 in his class which is just another example of those guys just not working at Kentucky. He expected to be a one and done but injuries held him out and when he played, he couldn’t hit the side of a barn. Regardless, good luck to Baker in the future, I’ll be rooting for him.
