Happy Anniversary to Bobby Petrino’s Neck Brace Press Conference

Today marks the seventh anniversary of the infamous press conference that featured then Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino sporting a sweet neck brace and some pretty sick road burns.

The injuries resulted from a mysterious motorcycle crash that happened two days prior. The crash was not the mysterious part though, judging from his appearance, it definitely happened. It was the statement released by the University of Arkansas the next day saying, “Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals. He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.”

“…involved no other individuals.” Hmmm, if I know Petrino like I think I know Petrino, it definitely sounds like more people were involved. And in fact, there was. The Student-Athlete Development Coordinator and former Arkansas volleyball player, Jessica Dorrell, was also on the motorcycle with him at the time of the crash. Petrino had hired her 3 days before the incident.

When that news was released several days later, it had mixed reactions from Arkansas and other fans. Petrino was immediately placed on administrative leave and later fired, some Arkansas fans formed a rally in support of keeping Petrino around, Kentucky fans were smug as ever and Louisville fans felt a little better about being betrayed by Bobby in the first place.

I can only imagine how Cardinals fans felt when they re-hired him 2014.

Right now, Petrino is still on the job hunt, but hopefully this walking contract violation gets hired soon. Always fun to have another scandal to look forward to. Never change, Bobby. Here is the full 10 minute press conference, see if you can count the lies.
