Jason Witten has decided that his football career is not done yet. He has decided to come out of retirement for one last ride with the Dallas Cowboys.
Most recently, Witten was a color commentator with ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Now, he will be strapping on his once hung up cleats and heading back to Arlington, Texas. When asked about the decision he said:
“The fire inside of me to compete and play this game is just burning too strong,” Witten said in a statement. “This team has a great group of rising young stars, and I want to help them make a run at a championship. This was completely my decision, and I am very comfortable with it. I’m looking forward to getting back in the dirt.” (dallascowboys.com).
This will delay the clock on Witten’s inevitable Hall of Fame induction, but that does not seem to bother him. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that he signed a 1-year, $3.5 million contract.
Welcome back, Witten.
