Here we are for another edition of Morning Juice. This week, I am 7-3 which brings us to an overall record of 25-14-1. I’m telling you all to bet these game because I know how to win, don’t be ignorant and just take the advice and place the bet…let’s go.
In Baton Rouge, LSU is coming off a home loss to Florida while Tennessee is coming off a whopping from Kentucky. This game will be the best game of the day. This is two teams trying to prove themselves after some tough losses in the last week. Tennessee should win this game. They’re averaging 83.7 points per game and only giving up 67.4. LSU, on the other hand, is scoring 82.7 points per game while allowing 73.8. So you can guess what the key is… defense. With the game being at Baton Rouge, I expect LSU to get some home court advantage and come out hot. I expect Reid and Waters to have an amazing game and I like the Reid-Williams matchup. I think Reid will bully him just like Kentucky did and it will be a very physical game. I think TN wins this game and bounces back 83-80. So take Tennessee -1.
This game would have had a ton more interest if Louisville wasn’t on a little losing streak and losing their identity. Nwora is still one of the best offensive players I’ve seen recently and Chris Mack will still get the job done, eventually. But I think this season has entered the downward spiral for Louisville. Virginia comes in allowing only 54 points per game while Louisville is allowing over 68. I won’t harp on this game too much, but Virginia wins it easily 70-57. So, take Virginia -4.5 and the over 124.
Kentucky is still winning but this is their first game without Reid Travis, who sprained his knee on Tuesday. They last played in January and Kentucky was starting to run away with it, but Auburn came back and Kentucky won by 2 at Auburn. This will be a tough game because Auburn has a lot to prove and this would add a huge boost to their Tournament Resumé. On paper, they match up well against one another with both teams averaging around 80 and giving up around 66. The key for this game is PJ Washington. Look for Kentucky to give him the ball early and often as well as EJ Montgomery. PJ is going to have to be the brute for Kentucky, so that should open up EJ to a few opportunities to score and he will have to knock them down. Another key for Kentucky is they need to be good on switches. With Reid being out, their defense takes a huge hit. If Kentucky can talk and be aggressive on defense, they win this game easily and I think that is what happens. I would take Kentucky moneyline but take the under 143 as well. Cats win 67-54.
Well, what a wild week this was for both programs. First, Duke lost their best player against their biggest rival and gone blown out at home, all while looking like a lost puppy. Syracuse had a big win against Louisville at home and then their coach killed a man (https://soft7sports.com/2019/02/21/syracuse-coach-jim-boeheim-hits-and-kills-man-on-i-690/). Zion has a mild knee sprain and is day to day, but if he does not play I do not like Duke’s chances in this one. With Gameday being in Syracuse, I think Syracuse will go on multiple runs and hold Duke to a low scoring game. If Duke wants to have a chance, RJ, Cam, and Tre need to go off. Duke is still a top 5 team without Zion, but they are -24 when he is off the court. I do not have a winner in this game because I truly have no clue, but take the under 143 and it will hit.
