The Indianapolis Colts Know How to Draft

I know it, Andy Dwyer knows it, Ron Swanson knows it, Lil’ Sebastian knows it and now I am going to make sure that you know it. The Indianapolis Colts Know. How. To. Draft.

The Colts are the best team in the NFL when it comes to drafting. Every team gets a good player in the first round, but the Colts, however, always seem to get someone great. In fact, 8 of their last 20 first round picks have been Pro Bowlers. Names that come to mind are Peyton Manning, Dwight Freeney, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark, Edgerrin James and Andrew Luck.

Sure, other teams get lucky every now and then with a late round pick, but the Colts do it consistently. Robert Mathis was a 5th round pick. Pierre Garcon was a 6th round pick. Even Marlon Mack was a 4th rounder. Other important names that came after the 2nd round are T.Y. Hilton, Dwayne Allen, Donte Moncrief and Nyheim Hines. These players have played important roles on very successful Colts’ teams. Never a wasted pick.

This year was no different. With their first two picks in the 2018 NFL Draft the Indianapolis Colts selected Quinton Nelson and Darius Leonard. This past week, those two were named All-Pro. This is the first time that rookie teammates have been named to an All-Pro team since 1965. That is unbelievable how much success the Colts have earned through drafting well.
